Linden Update | February 2018

The winter of 2018 started with worrisome volatile temperature swings reminiscent of recent Dow Jones activity. However the past few weeks have settled down to a typical, but dreary mid-winter normal. Grapevines do not like wild temperature swings. Warm/cold cycles can damage buds and even trunks. Cold is fine as long as the cold temperatures come slowly and stay cold. Vines don’t care about snow, ice, or freezing rain. But we do. Gloomy winter days have been a bit frustrating, and have slowed pruning activity.
