Harvest Update: Finishing Whites, Waiting for Reds

Just about all of Linden's white grapes have been harvested. The exception is Petit Manseng, which we intend to harvest in November (hence the designation "Late Harvest"). The Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc harvest was of outstanding quality, but meager quantity. We also harvested a small amount of red grapes for Rosé.

The muggy days of this week will give way to classic fall weather, just in time for the start of red wine harvest. It has been several years since we harvested in October. It just feels right to be picking grapes on a cool crisp morning with a splash of fall leaves dotting the mountain. If the hurricanes stay away, the reds should also be of exceptional quality.

It's Time for the Winegrower's Selection

This fall’s harvest has put us in a whimsical mood for choosing the November Winegrower's Selection. Our eclectic assortment includes several special pre-releases along with a few library selections.

  • 2022 Riesling (pre-release) | The swan song vintage. We've been holding back Linden's final bottling of Riesling. The extra time has added complexity and harmony. Or maybe we just didn't want to part with it.

  • 2022 Boisseau Viognier (pre-release) | Aging rewards. Viognier can be very tropical and simple, but with a bit of time it can blossom. Bee's wax nose and a concentrated palate. Ready for primetime.

  • 2019 Avenius Chardonnay | A cool site meets a warm vintage. This wine demonstrates Chardonnay's ability to age.

  • 2022 Claret | Just a baby now, but if you have ever wondered what the term "crunchy red fruit" means, this is your chance to find out. The perfect Thanksgiving red wine.

  • 2022 Hardscrabble Red (pre-release) |  Iron fist in a velvet glove. The power of this wine comes from the Cabernet grape. Oak plays a small supporting role. Pre-release. We actually weren't going to release this wine yet, but a tasting with Josh Grainer from Lost Mountain and Jeff White from Glen Manor surprised us into deciding this wine was ready for a sneak preview.

  • 2019 Petit Verdot | Gobs of ripe dark fruit with Petit Verdot's signature rosemary and thyme aromas. Exuberant, not restrained.

November 2025 Winegrower's Selection: 2022 Riesling (pre-release), 2019 Avenius Chardonnay, 2022 Boisseau Viognier (pre-release), 2022 Hardscrabble Red (pre-release), 2022 Claret, and 2019 Petit Verdot.
