Slow to Spring

Spring is a bit behind this year, but so are we. It works out well. Sunday's mountain snow was not so eventful as far as accumulation, but it left some impressive drifts and a nuisance ice cover. Lingering snow in the cold corners persists.

This is the time of year when winegrowers act like groundhogs: sheltering on place on lion days and bustling with activity on lamb days. We still have a lot to do before spring settles: pruning, cane tying, trellis repair, deer fence repair, composting, and liming. Additionally, this year our winter bottling has been delayed. We usually get our bottles delivered in late fall, before the chance of snow. But this year because of supply chain issues we are still waiting. Trying to navigate our steep, windy road to get to the winery can be an adventure for a passenger car. Think about making that trip with a loaded 53' tractor trailer after a snow. April maybe?

2018 and 2023 Village Chardonnays, 2022 (new release) and 2021 Wabi Sabis, 2022 Boisseau Red (new release) and Avenius Red

New Tasting | Shoulder Season

At Linden we like to design our tastings according to the season. Fuller bodied wines are featured in the winter and lighter crisper wines in the summer. But March is "shoulder season" and is unpredictable in this regard. So we are contrasting the light, crisp 2018 Village Chardonnay with the big, warm juicy 2023 Village Chardonnay. Next up are two very different vintages of the rich leaning Wabi Sabi, including a new release of the 2022 vintage. Finally, a terroir tasting of two medium bodied and very expressive reds: Boisseau and Avenius from 2022.
